Projectile what?!

Well, it's been a big week for the Loewen family. First I should mention that Miss Isabelle has officially gained one pound, for a grand total of 8 lbs 11 oz! She is still 20 3/4 long, so she has simply filled out a bit, earning her the nickname of "The Chunk."

Our other development of the week (as you may have deduced from the title) is that of projectile poop.  You may be familiar with the tendency of baby boys to urinate mid-diaper change. Well, we learned of a similar tendency in our delicate rosebud this week. Now you may be asking yourselves how we learned such a thing. Well, you see.... 2 nights ago at about 3:30 a.m. Isabelle  ate her regular early morning meal. Once she was satiated and sleepy, she and her bleary-eyed mama made their way to the changing table to freshen up a bit.  In the moment between removing the soiled diaper and securely fastening the new one shut, I heard a "phhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrtttt" and looked to my right in time to watch a solid tablespoon or so of thick yellow poop smack the wall (about 2 feet away) and dribble down a few inches, creating a lovely trail resembling mustard on a hot dog. From the bed across the room I heard Reg stir as he asked "What just happened??"

Since then, she has "projectiled" several more times, and this last time (about two hours ago), a small smirk crossed her serene, sleepy little face after she let loose. Luckily, Mom and Dad are mastering the art of catching the poop in the diaper before it has a chance to make its way across the room. We've got a precocious little Loewen who takes great delight at times when, just for a moment, she is liberated from her Pampers...
